THE BLACK (POT)HOLE
We Twin Citians are the experts at a dangerous driving game
that makes a demolition derby appear safe, routine, and sane.
We navigate our vehicles with a polished military precision
through street fields of potholes, trying hard not to hit'em.
The enemies lay dead ahead, maybe five or six, no seven!
One thing's becoming obvious, this ain't the "Highway to Heaven".
With determined confidence developed from a strong, iron will
we swerve past every pothole, tempting fate and auto repair bills.
We drive with all the intensity Captain Kirk must have felt
guiding the starship Enterprise through a gigantic asteroid belt.
But now and then it happens, every driver's greatest fear.
They just hit the "Black Pothole" and completely disappeared!
Failing all attempts at rescue using the biggest of 4-wheel drives
we ponder what fate awaits them when they reach the other side.
